A central circular screen displays abstract animations shifting between scales, while suspended acrylic orbs reflect live-footage of the audience processed through custom TouchDesigner filters. Viewers see abstracted, real-time versions of themselves in the suspended orbs through four custom TouchDesigner. They are invited to look through the handblown glass sphere and handheld microscope, and play the “what the f*** am I looking at?” guessing game on the CRT television.

The Story
In the early seventeenth century, the invention of optical lenses forever changed how we see the world. Microscopes revealed intricate cellular structures; telescopes brought distant galaxies into view. Every advancement in optical technology has expanded our knowledge — and shifted our understanding of who and what we are.
further and further still takes its title from this ongoing movement. No matter how far our instruments reach, there is always more to see and more to learn — about the universe, and about ourselves.

Developed with support from Daniela Ortiz Correa, this installation evolved through extensive experimentation with projection mapping and real-time media systems.
Live webcam feeds of the audience are captured and processed in TouchDesigner using four custom filters: wispy cosmic particles, chromatic aberration, thermal mapping, and RGB star dissolution. The processed video is then projection-mapped onto suspended acrylic orbs surrounding a central circular screen that displays an abstract animation shifting between micro and macro scales.

further and further still was selected for the Festival of International Virtual and Augmented Reality Stories (FIVARS) 2026 — an international festival dedicated to immersive and interactive storytelling.
For FIVARS, the installation was developed independently as a second iteration — adapting the original exhibition work into a standalone version without collaboration.
